Death of Yazdgerd is a play about Yazdgerd III, the last king of Sassanid emperor, whose death marked the victory of the Arab conquest whereby Islam displaced Zoroastrianism as the official religion of Iran. This is an experimental theatre workshop of the play written by Bahram Beyzaie. Beyzaie is one of Iran’s most acclaimed filmmakers, playwrights and scholars of the history of Iranian theater. Death of Yazdgerd was written in 1979 and translated to English by Manouchehr Anvar.
