Shaka Dendy, an interdisciplinary artist and musician from Boston, was this summer’s Resident Public Artist at Boston Center for the Arts. His project, Gestures of Incompleteness, used community service and play to engage, activate and give back to local neighborhoods.

“Because of this residency project, I was featured in the Boston Art Review, twice in the Boston Globe, WBUR’s The ARTery, and a number of other publications. I met an incredible network of local artists and peers, and have since formed a more solid foundation upon which to continue my work. But most importantly, I was able to do work that was both personally important to me and beneficial to my community.” —Shaka Dendy

Creating is an art in itself; the BCA invites you to be a part of the path and the process by making a gift to the Annual Fund by December 31. The dedication of donors and friends ensures that the BCA continues to support the professional development of artists like Shaka.
