Born in Russia, Selina Narovlansky received her Masters Degree in Applied Art, specializing in textiles, from the Moscow Stroganoff College of Fine Arts and Design. She continued her study in design at the renowned Senesh Experimental Design Studio, participating in conceptual projects with an emphasis on teaching and learning.

In the United States, she became a member of the New England Artist Trust, participated in the Artist’s Congresses, and was the recipient of several grants from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. She took courses at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and at the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum in New York.

For the past 20 years, she has been working at her BCA studio, developing an original technique of painting on silk to create signature pieces of clothes and abstract compositions for the wall. Her other favorite technique is ink painting on rice or waxed paper. Both of these techniques involve spontaneity and experimentation with color.
