Founded in 1989 by Artistic Director Abe Rybeck and a group of artists/activists the Theater Offensive was formed to expand on the then existing queer theater scene. Since then they have been on the cutting edge of queer culture and politics. The Out on the Edge Festival is considered to be among the world's premier queer theater series.

Best Nighttime Hangout and Best Bar:

The Beehive

541 Tremont St

The club/restaurant is one of the hottest places in the South End. Expect a long line and don't even think about dinner without reservations. The place, a cross between the Moulin Rouge and cathedral crypt, is hoppin' seven days a week. It's got a solid line up of great jazz musicians, which of course is why you come to the Beehive. The great good, the exposed brick and noisey vibe make you feel like you've stumbled into your own neighborhood gin joint. Just sit back and have a few drinks and enjoy.
