Former Board Chair John GormanThe Board and Staff of the BCA note with sadness the passing of former Board Chair John Gorman. John was the founder of Opinion Dynamics Corporation and lead pollster for the FOX News Channel throughout the most challenging primary seasons in decades. John died February 17, 2008 in Boston. He was 57.He served on the BCA board for twelve years, and was chairman of the board for eight of those years. While chairman, he led a capital campaign that raised over $1 million to repair the infrastructure of the historic Cyclorama. He was passionately interested in classical and early music, and served on the Board of Governors of Boston’s Handel & Haydn Society for 10 years and was a major supporter of that organization’s music program. In addition, he was a major longtime supporter of the rights and welfare of gays and lesbians through his involvement with organizations such as Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders (GLAD), the Human Rights Campaign Fund (HRC), and Fenway Community Health Center, among others. A private funeral service will be held in John’s hometown on Rockford, Ill. A public memorial service will be held Friday, March 14, at 2 p.m. in Memorial Church at Harvard Yard in Cambridge. |
