A Puerto Rican and Cambodian walk into a kitchen. The kitchen is your heart. The food is made with food. The food is sometimes poems. Either way you are fed. Adobo-Fish-Sauce is an active choice to celebrate in the face of bitterness. It is responding to “Go back to where you come from!” by bringing where they come from right to you. The show fuses spoken word, cooking, music, crying and laughing to create a one of a kind experience that can’t be found in any restaurant, open mic or art gallery.

Curators Anthony Febo and Ricky Orng will bring Adobo-Fish-Sauce to the Mills Gallery for live-in/work-in sessions during the day and performances at night. They will curate their space to be a work/live studio that gallery attendees may watch and interact with them and the space. By the end of their residency, they will have performed their show, facilitated a series of talk backs that they are calling House Warmings, and will have written and produced a whole new show that they will debut on their final night.

Adobo-Fish-Sauce will spend their residency exploring themes such as making home, creating space for healing and forgiveness and finding joy. |

How can the purest sensory memories influence one’s future? Explore this idea in Lavender—a multi-sensory musical performance that explores how early experiences with lavender’s color and fragrance shaped trajectories and influenced decisions. The performance will include components of lavender through song, spoken-word, fragrance, simple projections, customized refreshments and movement.

Audrey Harrer is an alt-chamber composer/vocalist/harpist. She collaborates with chamber groups, experiments with music technologists, and works in music education. She finds clever ways to connect lyric and gesture and is particularly interested in the space where music and drama collide.
