The Boston Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the selected companies for the 2011-2012 Dance Residency season. The jury selected work based on the quality of the artist's work, the innovation evidenced by the submitted work and proposal, the potential impact of the residency on the artist’s career and the community we serve.

This season’s jurors were Debra Cash, Dance Critic & Writer; Cheri Opperman, Grants Coordinator for National Dance Project at NEFA; Veronique Le Melle, Executive Director of the Boston Center for the Arts; and Kristina Newman-Scott, former Director of Programs at the Boston Center for the Arts.

About the Dance Residency at the BCA

The Dance Residency at the Boston Center for the Arts gives choreographers the opportunity to create dance without the financial burden of rehearsal studio or theater rental. The BCA will serve as the host for the selected company and through marketing support, help develop an audience for residency events. This alleviates the choreographer’s workload of certain logistical and financial items, enabling the artist to focus completely on the creation of work and immersion into the process.

How to become a Dance Resident at the BCA:
Artists must submit proposals and be accepted to participate in this program. Applications are accepted through an annual open call and Dance Residency companies are selected by panel process.
