Story Gathering and Movement Workshop

with ANIKAYA Dance Theater

Boston Center for the Arts has commissioned ANIKAYA Dance Theater to create a major original movement theater piece, Conference of the Birds. An integral aspect of the content of creation of this piece are public story gathering and movement workshops with a focus on connecting the Muslim, immigrant, refugee, and dance communities, amongst others. ANIKAYA Dance Theater invites you to contribute to the creative process of this new work based on the ancient Sufi poem, The Conference of the Birds, a magnificent tale about the human spirit and the quest for the divine.

Workshop participants are invited to move with an ensemble of dancers from across the globe and share stories of their journey, fears and hopes through verbal, written or movement communication. Elements of stories shared may be woven into the premiere performance in April.

All abilities are welcome.
