January 9–February 13, 2017
Continuum Dance Project is a choreographic laboratory for Boston Arts Academy dance alumni to work collaboratively and explore new choreography in their post secondary or post college dance-making journey. It is a forum for these young artists to develop their own voices. Continuum Dance Project grew out of collaboration between founding artistic dean and dance chair of Boston Arts Academy Fernadina Chan, and dancers Adriane Brayton, Mayra Hernandez, and Mary Ellen Liacos. Since its inception in 2013, Continuum Dance Project has challenged the convention of viewing dance by creating interactive immersive performances.
During their residency, Continuum Dance Project will develop a dance installation in collaboration with visual artist/writer Soyoung L Kim. Through a combination of visual elements, miniature paper-mache bird sculptures, narrative written by Kim, and dance vignettes by Chan and Brayton, audience and performers will be immersed in a lush and active environment.
