The BCA wishes you a happy and healthy holiday season PDF Print E-mail

Dear Friends:

From everyone at the Boston Center for the Arts, I wish you a happy and healthy holiday season.

As we come to the close of 2009, I am also marking the end of my first year as the Executive Director of the BCA. The last 12 months have been a time of change and renewal for the BCA. Like other sectors, the arts have had to demonstrate creativity and resiliency to remain relevant in these trying times. Despite these challenges, the BCA has continued to expand programming and remain committed to its vision of being a "Bigger and Bolder BCA."

This year, we successfully launched a pair of programs that have engaged new artists in our mission and attracted new audiences to our campus: Movement at the Mills, a free dance series that features an exhibition of movement by emerging Boston choreographers; and overheard/underground, an underground live music series that showcases folk, classical and experimental music. These programs are paving the way for future programs that will serve both artists and audiences in the coming year.

In 2010, the Boston Center for the Arts will celebrate its 40th year of supporting working artists to create, perform and exhibit new works for Boston's diverse and dynamic audiences. Today, the BCA is home to 50 artist studios, the Mills Gallery, five Resident Theatre Companies, and four theaters. Each year, we welcome more than 200,000 people through our doors and into our performance and studio spaces.

As you plan your year-end giving, we hope that you will consider supporting the BCA and the start of our fifth decade as Boston's premier destination for arts and cultureWe also hope that you will make it a point to visit the BCA in the coming year and help us to celebrate our 40-year milestone.
