I AM | Paths of American Women
Tuesday, September 12, 2017 | 6:30–8:30 pm
Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center (ISBCC)
100 Malcom X Boulevard, Roxbury

This story-gathering workshop is for women and is a place of comfort, trust, excitement and sisterhood.

The workshop is based upon the great Sufi poem, The Conference of the Birds by Faridudin Attar. One can participate in any way they are comfortable such as by telling their story verbally, through writing or drawing, or using movement.

This event is open to women of all ages including little women.

The event will include a reading of the beautiful children's book, The Conference of the Birds by Alexis York Lumbard.

The workshop is a chance to reflect and share one's journey, fears, and hopes and provides a supportive, uplifting environment to do so. Just as the birds uplifted and encouraged one another to cleanse their hearts and continue their epic journey, so too, will this workshop provide a place to speak and be inspired on one's own challenging journey.

As part of the commissioned work Conference of the Birds by ANIKAYA Dance Theater to premiere in April 2018, we would like to record some of the stories to later weave the many voices into one, culminating dance.
